British actor Darren Kent, who starred in Game of Thrones and BBC soap EastEnders, has died at the age of 36, with Holby City actor Lee Mead leading the tributes to the late star.
The actor, who sadly died last week following a long health battle, made an appearance as a Goatherd from Slavers Bay in a 2014 episode of the HBO hit series Game of Thrones. Earlier this year, the late actor played a corpse in the fantasy movie Dungeons and Dragons: Honour Among Thieves.
Darren worked alongside big names in Hollywood including Twilight star Kristen Stewart and 24 actor Kiefer Sutherland. During his acting career, the British star appeared in Snow White and the Huntsman playing a peasant in 2012. He enjoyed a stint on the British soap EastEnders for two episodes last year, playing the role of Scott.
British actor Darren Kent died last week following a long health battleThe late actor's TV credits also include cameos on the original British version of Shameless in 2004, an appearance on American series Community in 2012 and took on the role of Mr Verity in the ITV five-part drama series Malpractice earlier this year. His first acting role came about in 2008, when he appeared in the film Mirrors, starring Ben Carson, and Darren went on to win Best Actor award in 2012’s Van D’or awards ceremony for the character Danny in the movie Sunnyboy.

Darren also dedicated time away from the spotlight to supporting disabled, non-disabled and disadvantage people as patron of Equal People Performing Arts. He was assigned this role in 2018 by Penni Bubb, the founder of Mushroom Theatre Company.

She said: “Darren was a very supportive, generous and lovely man. He thoroughly enjoyed spending his time with us and performing for our students – especially when he used to sing for them! We are going to miss our much-loved patron so much, and our thoughts are with his family and friends at this terribly sad time.”

Fellow patron and actor Lee Mead shared the sad news with his followers and added: "Darren was an amazing human being and so special. Always giving of his time to people and always so positive. A fine actor too and he achieved so much as well. Such heartbreaking news."
Actor Mark Haldor paid tribute to his fellow actor and said: "Darren inspired me every day of his life. He never let his circumstances dull his shine and regardless of any obstacles, achieved so many things in his life and career many of us only dream of. Not only an inspiration he was always every one else’s biggest supporter too."
