EastEnders took a dark turn as Tommy Moon, 12, lashed out at Alfie, causing him to be breathless.
The pair became embroiled in a heated row after Tommy stormed out while his step-dad was looking after him and his younger two brothers at the bookies. During one scene, Freddie Slater revealed that it was Tommy who told him his biological dad was rapist Graham Foster, leaving Alfie stunned.
But as Tommy ran away, the dad-of-four was left worried about his whereabouts as he searched throughout Walford to try and find him. But Alfie was far from prepared for what he saw as he discovered Tommy with his friends in the local park.
Tommy was enraged after a clip of him and Alfie was posted on social media (BBC)As the pair clashed over Tommy deciding to not answer his phone, his peers including Perry decided to mock the pre-teen when Alfie explained he had to be home by 7pm. But as he made an exit, he noticed Tommy was hiding something, before questioning whether he'd been drinking.
To his dismay, he found a bottle of vodka in Tommy's possession, leaving him furious before dragging him home. But the whole incident was filmed by Tommy's peers filmed the ordeal and later posted it on social media. Despite their initial fallout, Alfie attempted to make things up to Tommy as he sat down for a chat with his step-son and apologised for being absent from his life but as he explained he was still angry about catching him drinking, Tommy received a notification on his phone.

Tommy left Alfie breathless as he punched him in the stomach (BBC)"Look what you've done, this, look you've ruined everything!" he yelled before he became increasingly annoyed as Alfie tried to take his phone off of him. After a brief interaction as Alfie tried to get hold of the phone, Tommy, out of nowhere, lashed out and punched him in the abdomen, leaving him breathless before Tommy ran out of the house.
Shortly after the scene aired, viewers flocked to social media to share their shock, with one writing: "Did... Tommy just sucker punch Alfie to an early grave #EastEnders." A second went on to write: "That's not Alfie's fault Tommy #EastEnders."
"Tommy's a little tosser aint he #EastEnders," commented a third. "What Alfie did? C***, Tommy acting out to the extreme #EastEnders," tweeted another.
However, in scenes yet to air as Phil returns from the Minute Mart, he discovers Alfie grimacing in pain and refusing to take no for an answer, he takes him to the hospital to be checked over. But things soon take a turn for the worse. In scenes yet to air, Alfie is set to be diagnosed with prostate cancer and the BBC has been working alongside Prostate Cancer UK and Macmillan Cancer Support to make sure the story is "authentic". Before taking on the storyline which will "follow Alfie and those around him as he discovers and comes to terms with his diagnosis," Alfie met with Prostate Cancer UK's supporters who have been affected by the disease.
