Harry Maguire's proposed £30million move to West Ham is being held up over his pay-off from Manchester United.

Maguire, 30, is expected to join the Hammers in the coming days after starting just eight Premier League games last season. The Englishman has fallen behind Raphael Varane, Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw and Victor Lindelof in the pecking order at United.

Erik ten Hag has told Maguire "to make a decision" if he's not willing to fight for his place at Old Trafford. The centre-back needs to play regular football to guarantee a spot in Gareth Southgate's England squad for next year's Euros in Germany.

Ten Hag will drop a huge clue on Maguire's future when he names his first Premier League squad of the season, as United take on Wolves at home on Monday evening. "Of course," said the Dutchman when asked whether Maguire is available for selection.

As reported by The Guardian, West Ham have agreed personal terms with Maguire, but he's still waiting to agree a pay-off from United. He currently earns around £190,000-a-week, a salary the Hammers are unable to match. He has two years left on his contract.

Maguire's exit would pave the way for Jonny Evans to sign a one-year deal with United. It's believed Ten Hag is keen to hand the former Leicester defender another contract at Old Trafford after he signed a short-term deal to play for them in pre-season.

United haven't confirmed whether Evans will remain part of Ten Hag's squad for the entire season. A decision on his future is expected imminently, with there just hours to go before United's campaign gets underway at Old Trafford.

Ten Hag was asked about Maguire's future during his pre-match press conference. He said: "For Harry... he has to fight for his place and he has the abilities to be a top-class centre-back. He is the best for England and I assume he will be best for us, but he has to prove it.

"When he is not confident enough to go in and fight, then he has to make a decision. But I am happy with him."

Maguire's United future is in doubt after Ten Hag stripped him of the captaincy earlier this summer. West Ham manager David Moyes has been chasing the defender's signature for several weeks, with a loan bid and a £20m offer rejected.

Yet United, who paid £80m to sign Maguire from Leicester four years ago, have finally accepted an offer. Moyes told reporters: "We've had a bid accepted from Manchester United, but while he's not our player I'm not in a position to discuss him really."
