A student has vowed never to shop at New Look again after finding a bizarre note in a pair of trousers she bought at the high street store.
Caitlin Salmon treated herself to a new pair of black trousers but was shocked when she found a handwritten note in one of the pockets. She claims the note, which was written in Vietnamese, said: 'I do not know what to do'.
She said: "I was so upset by it when I first found it because I only had the Google Translate to go off and it painted a picture of a very desperate, horrible message. I was truly touched by it, it's crazy. It started ringing alarm bells because I have been taught about this kind of thing happening in my lectures. Finding something like that is exceptionally unusual thing to happen. It's very peculiar."
However there has been some confusion around what the note actually says as some people disagree with the translation. New Look has launched an investigation and now claims actually says 'there is a seam mistake on the left side pocket'. Native Vietnamese speakers were unable to agree on a translation due to missing accents.
The University of Leeds student has now vowed never to shop at New Look again and claims she feels "let down" by New Look's translation of the "shocking" note after it was labelled 'jibberish' by ten native Vietnamese speakers. An employee at the Vietnam Trade Office claimed the note was indecipherable due to missing accents.
