'My parents saw my wife sunbathing naked on security cam - I'm furious'

A man says he and his wife were only too happy to housesit for his parents while they jetted off on a two-week holiday, but his enthusiasm was dampened somewhat after realising they'd spotted his wife sunbathing nude while checking their CCTV. According to this 28-year-old man, his parents live in a large house with a swimming pool, private garden, and dog, and so the couple's stay for a "nice change of pace" from their apartment.

This week, he's had to go away for a couple of days for work-related reasons, leaving his wife, Jenny, alone at his parents' house. It was during this period that he received a "confusing" text message from his dad, and was left positively mortified when the penny finally dropped.

Taking to Reddit, the red-faced husband wrote: "I got a text from my dad on Thursday afternoon, saying 'might want to give Jenny a heads up the pool guy will be at the house anytime this afternoon'. I said 'okay', and he said, 'might want to tell her, like, now'. It was a confusing message so I texted Jenny to give her a heads up, and she just said, 'omg okay funny'.

"It was all weird so I called her, and she said she was swimming and laying out with nothing on (it's a private yard). I immediately texted my dad and asked how he knew Jenny was in the pool, and he said he and my mum were checking the house cameras and saw her."

Reaching out to fellow Reddit users for their thoughts on the matter, he continued: "I let him know I thought it was odd they checked the camera and saw her naked, and that they basically let me know they saw Jenny. They think I am completely missing the point, that they were looking out for her. I told Jenny that they had checked the cameras and saw her, and she was completely unbothered, said she figured, and appreciated the heads up. I asked if it bothered her that they saw her and she said I am totally overreacting."

'I don't want children staying up late at weekends - I really need adult time'

A number of people agreed with Jenny that he was overreacting a bit, and argued that his parents really had every right to check the outdoor CCTV on their own property while they were away. Some even pointed out that they'd actually done her a huge favour by sparing her an awkward encounter with the pool guy.

One person commented: "It's your parents' house, they have every right to check the cameras while they are away. Your wife is the one who chose to lay out nude while at their house. Your parents were trying to do her a favour by giving you a heads-up that the pool guy was coming over. They could have just let the situation unfold as it would. So yeah, calling out your parents was an ***hole thing to do."

Another agreed: "It's their home, they have cameras that are going to be seen. Your dad wasn't perving on your wife to get his rocks off, he checked because the pool guy was coming, saw your wife was in a compromising situation, and let you know about it. He probably didn't call your wife in case she got embarrassed or felt violated so called you instead. Your wife isn't offended or even fazed so why are you in such a tizzy about f*** all?"
