Harry Kane insisted he has "plenty of football left" in his career after leaving the Premier League with a 47-goal gap to Alan Shearer's all-time record in the competition.

England captain Kane completed a move to Bayern Munich on Saturday. The £100m fee for the former Tottenham star is a record for the Bundesliga champions, and their new arrival was handed a debut in the DFB Supercup just hours after being announced.

Kane received a formal unveiling at a press conference on Sunday, where he addressed a number of topics including Shearer's record, Shearer retired with 260 Premier League goals to his name, and Kane's current tally sits at 213.

"Of course it's always going to be a tough decision [to leave Spurs]," Kane said. "I was at Tottenham for 19 years of my life, so everyone knows that the club is connected with me and with my heart.

"But ultimately, as I said earlier, I'm a professional and I've always pushed myself to my limits, and I just felt like the time was right. I needed to be playing at the highest level, I needed to be playing Champions League, trying to win titles every year.

"So when I thought about it, and obviously Bayern got in touch, it was, it was a decision I wanted to make. Of course people will talk about the record and talk about Shearer, but look, I've got plenty of football left in my career. For now it's to try and concentrate on trying to achieve things here, trying to push myself, trying to push the team and trying to reach new levels with this club, and that's what my focus is on right now."

Shearer's 260 Premier League goals came from 441 appearances in the competition, with the last arriving a few months before his 36th birthday. Kane's 213 arrived in 320 games, and he turned 30 in July.

Kane missed the opportunity to win silverware on his Bayern debut. He came off the bench with his team trailing 2-0 in Supercup game against RB Leipzig, and Thomas Tuchel's side ended up losing 3-0 as Dani Olmo completed a hat-trick for Die Roten Bullen.

"I spent my whole career in England and the Premier League so it may take a bit of adapting to get used to a new league," Kane admitted. "I'm playing against different teams. As you saw yesterday with Leipzig, there are some great teams in this league and it is going to be a real challenge.

"I know people expect Bayern to win the league every year, but I think teams are improving and it is getting tougher. For me it is about settling in, getting as comfortable as possible and understanding the different teams and how I need to adapt."
