Former EastEnders actor Tony Discipline has a completely new life outside of the spotlight ten years after leaving Albert Square.

The former BBC star played Alfie Moon’s cousin Tyler Moon from 2011 until 2013, but has since decided to leave the small screen behind him. The 34-year-old actor is now working as both a firefighter and barman.

During his two years stint on the show, the actor was at the centre of dramatic storylines - but his most memorable ones included his on-and-off relationship with Whitney Dean, played by Shona McGarty, and nearly suffering a fatal seizure after a boxing match.

Tony admits he couldn't be happier in his new job. Opening up about working as a firefighter, the former soap star told The Sun: “I love it. Every day is different and you feel you’re helping your community. I love it,”

Tony also runs and serves drinks at a travelling bar for events, and weddings, where he has regular run-ins with long-time fans of the soap. "A lot of people call it ‘The Little Vic’ after they see me bartending and recognise me from Eastenders " the actor joked.

Tony admits he would love to return to Eastenders if he is given the opportunity. EastEnders fans have been familiar with the return of old characters as, in recent weeks, the likes of Cindy Beale, Lisa Fowler, and Ryan Malloy , have all made a comeback to Walford.

"I loved my time there. It was a great chapter in my life and if the opportunity ever came up, I would definitely be interested," he says, adding: “Tyler’s still alive, so it could happen. He left to join his brother Anthony on a cruise. They must have got stuck in the Arctic because it’s been a long old cruise!"

Before landing a role on the soap, Tony revealed he was juggling two jobs as he attended acting classes at night. "When I got the call for EastEnders, it was like winning the lottery. I was working at Billingsgate Fish Market in the day and going to acting classes at night. It was so surreal to go from selling sea bass to being stopped in the street and asked for a picture" he said.

Tony found himself hitting headlines once he began dating co-star Jacqueline Jossa, who played Lauren Branning. After 18 months, the pair decided to call it quits, with Jacqueline going on to marry TOWIE star Dan Osbourne in 2017.
