Gary Lineker wasted little time and got straight to the point as he summed up why Harry Kane chose to join Bayern Munich.
Kane, 30, spent his entire senior career up until Saturday with Spurs - except for spells out on loan - but failed to win a piece of silverware, losing three cup finals. Now, after completing a transfer potentially worth in excess of £100million, the England captain could win a trophy on his very first day with the German giants.
Bayern face RB Leipzig in the German Super Cup as they bid to kick off their 2023-24 campaign with yet another trophy, having won 11 Bundesliga titles in succession. And Kane is set to make his debut, albeit off the bench, for the match at his new home, the Allianz Arena.
Kane, who's signed a four-year contract and will wear the No.9 shirt, says that he joined the Bundesliga champions in order to prove himself "at the highest level." The news prompted Lineker, who made over 100 appearances for Tottenham, to declare: "It seems Harry Kane could well be in the Bayern Munich squad for tonight's DFL Super Cup. He could win more trophies in one day than he has in more than a decade at Spurs."
Speaking on Friday, Kane talked about his hopes of featuring against Leipzig, saying: "Obviously I go straight to the Super Cup and hopefully play some part there. I spoke to the coach briefly, but I'll meet him properly in the morning with the team as well and then try to settle in as quickly as possible."

But now Bayern have their man, with club president Herbert Hainer beaming in a statement: "Welcome to Munich, Harry Kane! We're very happy about this top-quality new arrival.
