Harry Kane has shared a video message saying goodbye to Tottenham, as Bayern Munich prepare to announce his arrival.

"Hi everyone, I wanted to be the first to tell you Tottenham fans that I will be leaving the club today," he said. "Obviously a lot of emotions going through me right now, sad to be leaving the club I’ve spent nearly 20 years of my life at from an 11-year-old boy to a 30-year-old man."

"Hard to put into words how to say goodbye to a club and fans who have done so much for me in my career," a caption, shared alongside the video, read. "You will always be in my heart. Thank you Tottenham, thank you Tottenham fans.

Kane joins Bayern after spending his entire playing career to date with Spurs, save for some loan spells away from North London. His move to the Allianz Arena will eclipse Bayern's transfer record, which is currently the £72m they paid for Lucas Hernandez in 2019.

The 30-year-old became Spurs' all-time record scorer in February 2023 when he netted for the 267th time for the club. However, his goals last season were unable to deliver Spurs a place in the Champions League as they slumped to an eighth-place finish.

Bayern are adding firepower to a team which left it late to seal the Bundesliga title last term. The Bavarian side appointed Thomas Tuchel as manager midway through the campaign, but the former Chelsea boss only delivered the title on the final day of the season.

Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou confirmed on Friday that Kane's exit was imminent. The striker had just one year left on his contract, and would have been able to leave on a free next summer unless he signed fresh terms in North London.

“It is best Harry speaks for himself in terms of the decision but no doubt he is one of the greats of this football club and that never changes," Postecoglou told reporters. "I am only new in the building but fairly evident Harry Kane will always be one of the greats for this football club.

The former Celtic boss also revealed conversations over Kane's future began as soon as he took over in the dugout. "I think if you're involved in football as long as I have, you know clubs are not going to talk to each other without the player knowing," he said.

"[Harry and I] had a chat on the first day. He was up front and honest that if they could agree a deal then he would go. He wanted it decided by the first game and that was my preference as well."
