Liverpool have already spent big this summer to sign Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai and at least one more addition is expected before the transfer window slams shut.

James Milner, Naby Keita, Roberto Firmino and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain have all left the club after their contracts expired, while experienced midfield duo Jordan Henderson and Fabinho have been sold to Saudi Arabian clubs Al Ettifaq and Al Ittihad respectively.

As a result, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is desperate to strengthen his squad further as they look to bounce back after failing to qualify for the Champions League last season. Here's the latest news from Anfield.

Liverpool agree Caicedo fee

Klopp has confirmed that Liverpool have agreed a British record transfer fee in the region of £110m with Brighton for midfielder Moises Caicedo.

"I can confirm the deal with the club is agreed, whatever that means because we want the player and not any kind of agreement, we will see," Klopp said. "We are a club that doesn’t have endless resources, we didn't expect a couple of things happening in the summer, like Henderson and Fabinho [leaving], stuff like this.

"We didn't think about that before the summer, to be honest, and then it happened. We gave [Jude Bellingham] a go and the club was really stretched. We will see [what happens with Caicedo]."

Chelsea remain in race after refusal

However, Liverpool are not the only club in for Caicedo with Chelsea still very much in the mix.

Chelsea believe Caicedo would prefer to join them instead of Liverpool despite the Reds hijacking the deal. Caicedo refused to head north for a medical and remained in London awaiting for Chelsea to strike a deal, Mirror Football's Neil McLeman reports.

Chelsea could now be forced to smash the British transfer record for the second time in six months - they signed Enzo Fernández for £105million in January - to capture Caicedo before Liverpool visit Stamford Bridge tomorrow.

Brighton would prefer the deal to be finalised as soon as possible too, with Seagulls boss Roberto de Zerbi stating: "I have already forgotten about Moises. Bigger clubs can buy our players but they can't buy our soul or spirit."

Andre latest

Liverpool have also been linked with Fluminense midfielder Andre Trindade, but the Brazilian club do not want to sell.

According to Globo, the fact that Fluminense have reached the quarter-finals of the Copa Libertadores has 'reinforced' their stance on the player's future due to their 'dream' of winning the tournament.

The report adds that Fulham and Sporting are also interested in the midfielder, but he will not be leaving Fluminense until the January transfer window at the earliest.
