Liverpool have completely revamped their midfield ahead of the new campaign as Jurgen Klopp's side look to bounce back from last season's disappointment.

They finished fifth in the Premier League meaning they will not be competing in the Champions League this year. And Liverpool have been very active in the transfer market so far, spending big on Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai.

Despite the additions of Mac Allister and Szoboszlai, Liverpool are desperate to sign another midfielder before the transfer window slams shut following the departures of James Milner, Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Jordan Henderson and Fabinho. Here's the latest news from Anfield.

Liverpool make Caicedo contact

Liverpool have made a late bid to sign Moises Caicedo after making contact with Brighton over the midfielder.

Chelsea have been pushing to sign the midfielder for the majority of the window, but Mirror Football understands the Reds have contacted Brighton chiefs about a potential move for Caicedo.

The Seagulls value him at £100m and it remains to be seen whether Liverpool or Chelsea will table a bid they decide to accept. Caicedo, meanwhile, has made it clear he wants to leave and even sat out training earlier this week.

Chelsea rival Reds for Lavia

News of Liverpool's interest in Caicedo comes after Chelsea submitted a £48m bid for Reds target Romeo Lavia.

Liverpool have had three offers rejected by Southampton, who want £50m for the teenager. Chelsea stepped up their interest in Lavia on Wednesday by tabling an official bid and talks are set to continue between all parties about the player's future.

Lavia was an unused substitute for Southampton in their Championship opener against Sheffield Wednesday last Friday and was absent from the squad entirely as they lost to Gillingham in the League Cup.

Dewsbury-Hall stance

Another midfielder Liverpool have been linked with is Leicester City star Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

The 24-year-old has impressed for the Foxes and scored both goals on Sunday as they produced a dramatic comeback to beat Coventry City 2-1 in their first Championship game of the season.

And following the departure of star man James Maddison to Tottenham this summer, Dewsbury-Hall looks set to play a key role in Leicester's bid to earn promotion back to the Premier League. As a result, the Guardian state they are desperate to keep him and 'do not want to sell the midfielder'.
