Harry Kane has been branded 'dishonest' after Tottenham accepted an improved bid from Bayern Munich for the striker.
Kane's contract at Spurs will expire next summer, with Bayern making him their top target for this year's window. The Bundesliga champions have already had several bids rejected, having overtaken Manchester United in the race for the England captain.
Rather than rival Bayern for Kane, United boss Erik ten Hag instead opted to sign Rasmus Hojlund for £72million, despite the Dane only scoring nine goals last season. Unlike the summer of 2021, when he publicly pushed for an exit, Kane has stayed quiet on his future.
Kane's silence on his future has infuriated United legend Paul Parker, who does not believe the striker has been honest about his feelings. And he also believes that the Red Devils' move for Hojlund will prove to be the best decision for all involved.
“Erik ten Hag never wanted Harry Kane, I can promise you that. He is just a goalscorer in name and Hojlund offers a lot more than Harry Kane, that's for sure. He wants to be a part of the team instead of just seeing his name on the scoreboard," he told SpilXperten.

"Højlund is quick, strong and yes, he is an unfinished product but I truly believe Man United have given their fans the gift of the year by signing him instead of Harry Kane. I also think Man United just signed a very honest player.

Harry Kane has been slammed for his silence over his future (Vince Mignott/MB Media/Getty Images)"I can see it when I look at him and watch the interviews with him. He is honest compared to Harry Kane who can´t even come out and say what he wants. Tottenham's fans are waiting for Harry Kane to say something but he doesn't have that honesty about him to tell the fans if he wants to stay or if he wants to leave.
"Does he really want to leave Spurs? I don't think so but at least he should come out and say something. I´m delighted that Man United signed Rasmus Hojlund instead of Harry Kane, I can't say it in a more direct way."
Parker's blast at Kane comes as Bayern reached an agreement with Spurs over an £86.4million fee for the striker, according to The Athletic. The deal was accepted by the Premier League side on Wednesday.
The ball is now in Kane's court, with the England skipper weighing up a move to the Bundesliga. He had wanted his future to be resolved before the start of the season, with Spurs travelling to Brentford on Sunday.
The 30-year-old does face somewhat of a dilemma though, despite his contract ticking down. He is said to have been enjoying life under new Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou and had been leaning towards remaining.
But now a deal has been agreed, Kane's future has once again been thrown into doubt. Spurs had been keen to tie him down to a new deal, but do not want to run the risk of seeing him leave for free next year.
