Bayern Munich have reached an agreement to sign Harry Kane from Tottenham.

The German giants have been trying to sign Kane since the start of the summer and they have finally struck a deal after Tottenham accepted a bid believed to be worth more than £86.4million on Wednesday. Kane must now decide whether or not he will make the move to the Allianz Arena.

Kane wanted to get the situation resolved before Tottenham's trip to Brentford this weekend, and after failed bids and several rounds of talks, Bayern have agreed a proposal with Spurs. But the England international is thought to be enjoying life under new boss Ange Postecoglou and had been leaning towards staying.

But the news of Bayern and Tottenham's agreement may sway Kane to departing the club. The 30-year-old has one year left on his contract at Spurs and has not yet shown any indication of committing his long-term future, although Daniel Levy is keen to tie down their all-time leading goalscorer.

Kane scored four times for Tottenham in their penultimate pre-season friendly against Shakhtar Donetsk last Sunday, with Dane Scarlett netting the other for Postecoglou's side. After the match, the Aussie was inevitably asked about the forward's future and admitted Kane was focused on his task at hand.

Postecoglou said: "You saw today that Harry Kane certainly is invested in what we're doing - and we will keep on doing that unless something changes. We know there's one deadline: that's the end of the transfer window."

Bayern have been confident to get a deal all window, but reports emerged last weekend that they were growing frustrated over a lack of progress. This was after the Bundesliga set a deadline for Spurs to accept their latest offer last Friday (4 August) at midnight, or the transfer was off.

In typical fashion, Levy wasn't making things easy and did not respond to the proposal. He finally rejected Bayern's offer on Monday (August 7), before further talks took place earlier this week. Tuchel had been eager, like Kane, to wrap up a deal before this weekend as Bayern prepare to face RB Leipzig in the DFL Supercup.

Kane scored 30 Premier League goals for Tottenham last season and was the division's second top scorer behind Manchester City's Erling Haaland. He has been a consistent performer for Spurs over the past decade, netting 213 times in the top flight, with Kane needing another 48 more to break Alan Shearer's record.
