Sergio Garcia has revealed he is in agreement with fellow LIV Golf star Phil Mickelson over the idea of players from the breakaway circuit being offered a route back to the PGA Tour.

In a memo sent out by PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan, it was confirmed that a 'Player Discipline' plan would be put in place to best decide how LIV players who had previously been banned could reapply for a Tour membership. In response the idea was quickly snubbed by the Saudi-backed league's biggest name in Mickelson.

As a result the six-time major champion took to social media to slam Monahan's plan, claiming that nobody competing on the LIV circuit wanted to make a return to the PGA Tour.

He tweeted: "What a colossal waste of time. Not a single player on LIV wants to play PGA Tour. It would require a public apology and restitution to LIV players for paying millions to clout media to disparage all of us. A better topic is future sanctions for the many players who now come to LIV."

With discussions surrounding the proposed merger between the PGA Tour and LIV ongoing, Mickelson's opinion was put to Garcia ahead of LIV Bedminster this week, and the Spaniard appeared to be in agreement. "I mean, I can't speak for everyone else," he responded.

"I do feel like it's [LIV players do not want to return the PGA Tour] the kind of feeling. I think that everyone around here is very happy and very comfortable where they are." When it comes to personal preference, it appears Garcia will not opt to reapply for membership on the back of the framework agreement.

"Speaking for myself, yes," he added. Like I said, I wanted to come here to LIV, not only becauseI love the product but because I wanted to play less. The possibility of playing PGA TOUR comes, I doubt that I would play because I don't want to play more.

"I want to play good quality golf the amount of times that I want to play and be able to spend as much time as I can with family and friends. That's my personal feeling." Garcia left the PGA Tour with a bang, ahead of his move to LIV Golf last summer thanks to an on-course rant.

The 2017 Masters champion was competing at the Wells Fargo Championship last May, where he fell into a disagreement with a rules official at the PGA Tour event. Infamously revealing his plan to quit the American-based circuit, he was heard shouting: "I can't wait to leave this Tour. I can't wait to get out of here my friend."
