Laurel Thomas is having a tough time on Emmerdale at present - as she faces a kidnap storyline.

Fresh from her marriage to Jai, Laurel has been supporting her husband following the death of his dad Rishi. As Jai heads to India, Laurel faces fresh horror as she found herself kidnapped by evil Colin, who is the father of young Marshall.

Aside from the ITV soap, Charlotte Bellamy has even appeared in a rival soap. She's also had a role in EastEnders all the way back in 1997 when she played Sue Taylor on the BBC soap and has had roles in the likes of The Broker's Man and A Touch of Frost.

In her personal life, Charlotte is married to Mungo Denison. The pair met when she was just 19-years-old, and tied the knot in 2012 at a ceremony at a local registry office. She has three kids with Mungo.

"We sat there at breakfast and said to the kids, 'We're getting married today', and they were like, 'What?' Suddenly it seemed like the right thing to do and we wanted to do it our way," Charlotte added as spoke about the details of her big day. For some people, a big wedding is the dream and of course that's great but it wasn't really our style," she told The Sunday Mirror about their big day.

On the ITV soap, Laurel is kidnapped by Colin, who can't understand Laurel intervening in Marshall's life.

Speaking about what's to come, she said: "Colin is a loose cannon suddenly. At first, Laurel thinks that Colin is just crazy, but then he keeps her there for three days. Eventually the police come and Colin just gets so heightened with anxiety and what he's doing. He's getting deeper and deeper into it – and he's trying to get Laurel to text Marshall from her phone. Laurel is just watching Colin unravel. Colin is just a complete bigot and wants Marshall to be a certain way. He won't accept Marshall's homosexuality."

During the stand-off, Laurel tries to reason with Colin and work out what's wrong with him.

"In true Laurel form, she is a good egg, isn't she? She always tries to see the good in people – and as a Christian, she believes that everybody can redeem themselves. She thinks that nobody is past redemption. Which, ultimately, is the ending of this story," she said.
