So-called “man of the people” Lee Anderson is a stain on British politics.
The only subject he is qualified to lecture anyone about is how to be a hypocrite. Anderson collects £100,000 from a second job he once claimed he’d never take on top of his £87,000 salary as an MP.
The turncoat, once a Labour councillor, tells people who don’t want to be shifted on to barges to “f*** off back to France”. It was disgusting unparliamentary language by a Conservative Party deputy chair who dares to think that’s how decent working class folk speak. They don’t.
Channel crossings and record net migration under the Tories, are explosive issues. Yet most people want the matter discussed coolly, practically and with compassion for people fleeing terror, extreme hardship or just wanting to build better lives. By injecting fresh poison into the issue Anderson is employing the gutter politics of a Tory Government trying to deflect attention from its 13 years of miserable failure.
Out of jail free?
Spending £83,000 of public money on polling, in what suspiciously sniffs of a plot to free criminals early from jail, is the Tories once again being soft on criminals. Government talk of tough sentences is propaganda for the gullible.

The reality is that the failure to plan enough prison places means ministers are looking for new ways of sparing the guilty from jail. Victims of crime? They are an inconvenient afterthought for this incompetent Tory gang.
Time to pause
The first anniversary of the passing of our adored Queen Elizabeth II will be a private moment for the King and a time of reflection for the public. Charles will spend September 8 quietly in Balmoral, where his mother passed away, while his son and heir Prince William leads public tributes. It is a lesson in finding the perfect balance.
