Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are said to be considered "melodramatic" and "untrustworthy," according to a celebrity publicist, who suggested they overshadow events.

The couple have made headlines in recent months over various aspects of their lives, prompting commentary from various people. Among them has been Mitchell Jackson, who's suggested that others are wary to invite them to events.

The celebrity publicist - who is the founder of the founder of BCC Communications - reportedly suggested that Meghan, 42, and Prince Harry, 38, have too much baggage. He added that they "distract" attention at celebrity events.

As reported by the Times, Mitchell made his comments amid speculation that the pair are struggling in Hollywood. The outlet reports that he said they have too much baggage and that people fear they will overshadow events.

He claimed that the couple are now perceived as "untrustworthy and melodramatic" following the controversy surrounding an incident in New York City earlier this year. It was alleged that the pair were chased by paparazzi after leaving the Ms Foundation for Women's 50th-anniversary gala event in the city in May.

A spokesperson for the couple alleged at the time that it had been a "near catastrophic car chase" that lasted more than two hours. It was further described in their statement as having been a "relentless pursuit" by the photographers.

Their version of events however was reportedly questioned by photographers and critics. Other individuals related to the alleged chase also seemed to downplay the severity of the situation. This included the couple's apparent driver.

Taxi driver Sukhcharn Singh - said to have driven them for part of the journey - said the couple "seemed scared" whilst being followed by paparazzi. He however added: "I don't think I would call it a chase. I never felt like I was in danger."

Police were also considered to have played it down, saying that there were no reported collisions, summonses, injuries or arrests at the time. Police however acknowledged that photographers had "made their transport challenging".

Mitchell referenced the incident whilst speaking about the couple to The Times. He suggested that it had influenced opinion about Meghan and Prince Harry, hinting that they might not get invited to showbiz events due to such opinion.

He said: "If you're doing a red carpet, you're promoting a movie or a fashion product or whatever the event is to promote. And the problem with Meghan and Harry is after the whole car chase thing in New York, people just feel like they're untrustworthy and melodramatic and it's just going to revolve around them and they will distract from what they’re trying to promote."
