Harry Kane will stay at Tottenham beyond the end of the summer transfer window if he does not leave before Spurs' Premier League opener against Brentford this weekend.

The 30-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to Bayern Munich after scoring a whopping 30 Premier League goals last season. Bayern have made Kane their first-choice striker target, but are growing impatient with the progress they are making after having two bids rejected.

Tottenham value Kane at £100million, despite having one year left on his current deal. Bayern are not willing to match that price and hope they can convince Daniel Levy to lower his valuation. The Spurs chairman, meanwhile, is trying to persuade the England international to stay and sign a new contract.

In an attempt to get a deal over the line, Bayern set Spurs a deadline of last Friday (August 4) at midnight to respond to their latest offer, or the transfer was off. Levy did not respond to the proposal by that point and Bayern have since threatened to walk away from the deal.

Now, Kane has set his own deadline over a proposed move. According to the Telegraph, Kane will call time on Bayern's bid to sign him if the German club cannot agree a deal with Tottenham this week. The forward is thought to be adamant he will not leave Spurs once the new Premier League starts.

This will be music to Ange Postecoglou's ears as he prepares to select his starting XI to face Brentford on Sunday. Kane has been an integral part of Postecoglou's plans in pre-season, with the forward scoring four times against Shakhtar Donetsk in their penultimate friendly.

Speaking after the 5-1 win over the Ukrainian side, Postecoglou said: "You saw today that Harry Kane certainly is invested in what we're doing - and we will keep on doing that unless something changes. We know there's one deadline: that's the end of the transfer window."

However, Bayern are considering one final offer to lure Kane away from Spurs, after seeing an £86m bid rejected on Monday. Thomas Tuchel is keen to get a striker over the line before their season starts with the DFL Super Cup against RB Leipzig, having allowed Sadio Mane to depart and join Al-Nassr.

The Bundesliga champions have not replaced Robert Lewandowski following the Pole's move to Barcelona last summer. Young forward Mathys Tel, who made the £25m switch from Rennes in July 2022, has scored six times in 29 appearances, while Mane failed to deceive after being brought from Liverpool.

Tuchel is a huge admirer of Kane and sees him as a solution to Bayern's troubles at the top end of the pitch, but they might have to wait until next year to secure a deal for him. Kane will be free to sign a pre-contract agreement with a non-English club in January, meaning Bayern can get in there early to secure his services if he does not sign a new contract at Tottenham.
