If Meghan Markle and Prince Harry reconcile with David and Victoria Beckham amid their alleged rift, they will need to "compromise" and have "empathy", an expert has revealed.

David and Harry had long been pals and had known each other for many years before the Prince married the Suits actress. Working together on several occasions and inviting one another to special occasions, David and Victoria even attended the Duke and Duchess's wedding in 2018. But now their supposed "rift" has been unveiled.

After the Duke of Sussex asked football icon David to be an ambassador for the Invictus Games, things reportedly turned sour when Harry refused to see the former England captain at the event in Sydney in 2018. And now it has been claimed that the reason Harry was been keeping his friend David at arms' length was because Meghan feared Victoria was leaking stories about her to the press.

Touching on Harry supposedly snubbing David at the 2018 event, Tom Bower wrote a recent article for The Sun. He said: "Having flown halfway around the world, he was perplexed why officials after he arrived at the sporting venue were playing a dance to keep him happy, but away from Harry.

"The reason for the distance was Meghan, the newly married Duchess of Sussex. She wanted no competition in the media from David, and especially not from his wife, Victoria."

But now senior therapist and relationship expert Sally Baker from Working On The Body has weighed in on the situation and offered insight on a way that the two couples can resolve their alleged issues, reconcile and move forward.

"The Beckhams have been in the public spotlight most of their adult lives' and are well versed with keeping their own counsel," Sally began. She added that this means "we may never know how deep the rift is between them and Harry and Meghan or why the rift ever occurred".

Sally then noted that when friendships fade and fracture it can be sad, and can often happen between people "who share many similar life experiences including the pressures of being celebrities scrutinized by the world’s media". She added: "Reconciling difficulties between friends requires empathy, compromise and recommitment to the friendship by both parties."

"Any lasting relationship takes effort and forgiveness to weather the ups and downs over long periods," she went on, adding: "Both families have had their own pressures over recent months, and sometimes it is hard to maintain friendships when there’s so much else going on in one’s life."
