Meghan's pal urges Duchess to 'build bridges' with royals after Megxit

Lizzie Cundy has said her old friend Meghan Markle needs to build a new relationship with her family, as well as her royal in-laws.

After starting a relationship with Prince Harry, Meghan became distanced from her biological family, minus her mum Doria. Matters came to a dramatic head when her dad, Thomas Markle Snr, staged paparazzi pictures ahead of her wedding to Harry and was later ruled out of attending after suffering a heart attack. But in recent years, their relationship has become even more strained with her two siblings as well as her dad often giving interviews to the media.

In 2020, Harry and Meghan shocked the world by announcing they were quitting as senior working royals and would be moving abroad for a more independent life. Since their split, which was dubbed 'Megxit', their relationship with the Royal Family has been under intense pressure.

The Duke and Duchess have made several blistering allegations which include claims of racism within the family and allegedly being forced to make his own way to Balmoral following the death of the late Queen Elizabeth.

Speaking to the Mirror, Lizzie said: "I wish and hope they could try and mend the bridges with the Royal Family as well as her own and just start being a normal couple. If they didn't want publicity, why are they courting it?" Following new images of the couple being released, Lizzie who befriended Meghan in 2013 went on to say: "I'm afraid this is just a publicity stunt and I think the whole world can see that.

"I love that they're doing stuff to help the youth but that's what they should stick to doing. Maybe they could have made that call without the camera crew. Isn't it about time you stopped the court cases, trashing the Royal Family and stop the setup photoshoots?

"Just be a real couple and get on with your own lives like you wanted – you wanted the privacy so go and have it." Meghan and Lizzie's friendship came to an abrupt end, with the model claiming the former Suits actress "ghosted" her when she started dating Harry.

Sources now claim that Meghan now has a "much softer approach" to her in-laws and has "moved on" from her drama with the Royals, according to People. It is not known whether she is in contact with Harry's relatives but she was last seen in the UK at the state funeral of Harry's grandmother, Queen Elizabeth.

Despite Harry attending the Coronation of his dad, King Charles and step-mother Queen Camilla in May this year, Meghan opted to remain at home in Montecito with their two children, Archie and Lilibet.
