A new spine-chilling documentary showcased the moment a killer was seen snacking on Haribo sweets after beating and beheading a stranger.

ITV's Code Blue: the Killing told the story of mother-of-three June Fox-Roberts' murder. In November 2021, murderer Luke Deeley, 26, walked into her home in Llantwit Fardre, South Wales and brutally attacked her. The illustration student, a paranoid schizophrenic, proceeded to decapitate her with an axe before removing her limbs and putting them in a plastic bag.

He left the 65-year-old's body to be discovered by her daughter in a "murder scene of nightmares". He fled the scene and was later found at an industrial estate.

In the ITV documentary, police footage shows the moment the killer was arrested. He was sitting on the ground ten. miles from June's home eating Haribo sweet while officers approached him. He had a few personal belongings lying next to him on the ground.

Holding onto the bag of sweets, he told the police: "I've been on a hike I have, bro." Officers asked the monster whether he has anything on his person that he shouldn't and he explained he had a "nunchuck thing".

Calmly speaking to Luke, the officer said: "Leave it where it is. Put your hands behind your back for a second. Take these sweets off you." The killer claimed his name was Lewis Thomas while he was being handcuffed and put into a police van.

The exchange was eerily calm as the officer checked his pockets for his "nunchuck thing." Tonight's episode one of Code Blue: The Killing of June Fox-Roberts airs at 9pm on ITV, and tells the tale of how the force caught a suspect who they originally referred to as 'Container Man'.

June's other daughter Trish told the show: "It was extremely disturbing, extremely disturbing that somebody could have done that. Such a heinous act, such a heinous act." June was found dead in her house by her worried daughter Abigal Sheppard in late 2021. Police officers rushed to the property after receiving a distressed 999 call and found large bloody footprints and fresh dye in the bathroom sink, indicating the suspect had changed hair colour before fleeing.

Detectives tried to identify the killer through CCTV footage, but there was little other evidence to help them. Then police were informed by a member of the public of a man - who they coined 'Container Man' - emerging from the back of an industrial estate. He appeared to be wearing some of June's daughter Trish's clothes.

When officers arrived at the yard, the suspect had disappeared. The hunt continued until they found him in a nearby village, sitting on the floor in an alleyway eating sweets.

Newport Crown Court heard how he was a paranoid schizophrenic who had been experiencing hallucinations at the time of the attack, and he claimed he'd been told to commit the crime by a "higher power". As of 2023, the killer has been detained at a psychiatric hospital under the Mental Health Act.

In March of this year, Luke pleaded guilty to manslaughter by reason of diminished responsibility which was accepted by the prosecution.
