Thomas Tuchel wants Bayern Munich to "adapt to what the team needs" - as they continue their pursuit of Harry Kane.

Bayern are trying to sign Kane, 30, from Tottenham this summer. They have already seen a number of bids rejected by Spurs for the England captain, who has just a year remaining on his contract and wants his future to be resolved within the next 10 days.

Tottenham are holding out for £100million, but Bayern are hoping to tempt them with a package worth around £90m. That would make Kane their record signing, usurping the £68m they paid to sign Lucas Hernandez from Atletico Madrid four years ago.

Bayern have boosted their budget by selling Sadio Mane to Al-Nassr for £34m. The former Liverpool forward, 31, will play alongside Cristiano Ronaldo in Saudi Arabia after scoring just seven Bundesliga goals during his one and only season in Germany.

Bayern's determination to sign Kane comes from their need for a striker. They've been trying to fill the role ever since Robert Lewandowski's move to Barcelona a year ago, with former Stoke star Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting often featuring last season.

Bayern were fortunate to retain the Bundesliga title in May. Borussia Dortmund would've become champions of Germany if they defeated Mainz on the final day of the season, but their draw allowed Bayern to sneak in with a 2-1 win against Koln.

Lewandowski is arguably the best centre-forward on the planet and there are only a handful of players who can compete with him for that crown. Kane is one of them and Bayern are confident the Englishman can lead their attack for the next five years.

Bayern have offered Kane a lucrative five-year contract - making him their highest earner - with the player having the option of a further year. They know he's an almost guaranteed source of goals, proven by the 30 he scored in the Premier League last season.

Tuchel's need for a striker was apparent when he altered his tactics during Bayern's pre-season tour of Asia. Their most recent friendly was a 1-0 win against Japanese side Kawasaki, with Josip Stanisic - a defender - scoring the only goal of the game.

Tuchel told reporters: "The important thing is that you adapt to what the team needs. We want to be consistent. You’re always changing and adapting depending on where the team is. It’s always a mix of being close together, but also demanding.

"We’re training a lot and intensively, but of course jet lag and the heat play a role here. We’ll train again tomorrow. It’s always a compromise, what is necessary, what makes sense - so that we can demand quality tomorrow (in a friendly against Liverpool)."

Tottenham chair Daniel Levy is approaching now or never time with Kane. If he doesn't sell the striker this summer, he could leave on a free transfer next summer. Yet Kane is tired of playing the waiting game and wants his future resolved immediately.
