Love Island stars Ella and Tyrique have opened up on their rollercoaster relationship after finishing in third place.

The couple, who have been partnered since the beginning of the ITV dating reality show, came in third after Whitney and Lochan and winners Jess and Sammy. In a post-finale interview, the couple revealed it's "amazing" to have reached the final since entering the villa in June.

Tyrique explained: "It is a crazy feeling, we both came in on day one together and were both there until the last day. We did the start until the end and we completed it."

The couple, who had some of the biggest arguments and fallouts on the show, made it to the final ending as an official couple after being put together by the public vote at the start of the series. Ella revealed that she thinks they would have chosen each other anyway, as she said: "100%, we both said we always would have chosen each other. He was the only guy there that I even looked at so."

Describing their chemistry, Ella added: "We had an initial spark. There was chemistry there straightaway. And obviously, look at him! But as soon as we got coupled up, I could tell we just bounced off each other."

Tyrique added: "I have to second that. It was a spark. I shocked myself. I thought it would take me ages to find someone. I thought she was really nice, beautiful and I then thought it could really work."

One of the biggest tests for the couple came with the infamous Casa Amor, which saw Tyrique choosing to stay single and wait for Ella. However, Ella returned with Ouzy, in a shocking move that saw Tyrique swear there was 'no way' they would couple up again. Discussing his shock, Tyrique explained: "To be honest I was surprised because I felt like we had something really good and had closed things off. I didn’t really express how deep I felt towards her and I was trying to be blase about it and not talk about emotions so I knew she still doubted me. I knew when it was Casa she would be doubting me. I knew she would think that. I thought it was my time to prove she could trust me. There was never a doubt in my mind I would stay loyal."

Ella was left surprised that Tyrique had stayed loyal, as she explained how she felt about it: "I was in two minds about it. I didn’t know what to expect. I thought ‘I know what he’s like’. When I came back and saw he was by himself it was such a moment. And then hearing he had been so good, I felt so much regret."

Now Love Island is over, the couple are excited to get to spend time together away from the villa. Ella shared: "I think we’re just excited to do boyfriend and girlfriend things. We know each other inside out but haven’t had a night in together or had proper date nights. Meeting the rest of his family, all the little things we haven’t been able to do that."

"Literally excited about everything. I have never had a girlfriend. Normal everyday life with Ella," added Tyrique.

Despite some dramatic moments and uncertainty over whether their relationship would progress, the couple revealed they have "no regrets". Ella explained: "No regrets, as everything worked out. We are here happy together. Everything that happened made us stronger and made us get to know each other."

"Not one single regret," said Tyrique. "Me and Ella acted off how we felt in the moment. We didn’t change ourselves or compromise and I’m just happy for that."

The loved-up couple recalled their favourite moment when they got honest and told each other they loved each other. Ella recalled: "He did his best with his chocolate strawberries. It was a bit of a mess but it’s the thought that counts. At that point, we had so much emotions building up and we could feel it. It was such a relief being able to say it back. That’s when we knew."

Tyrique added: "That was definitely my favourite moment too. I was so nervous that day. My heart was beating so fast. Now I can say it all the time."
