Christian Eriksen has criticised one aspect of Manchester United's pre-season tour in the United States.

Eriksen expressed his concern about the excessive amount of traveling involved during the tour, which spanned across four cities. Although United beat Premier League rivals Arsenal in New Jersey, Erik ten Hag's side were defeated by Wrexham in San Diego, Real Madrid in Houston, and Borussia Dortmund in Las Vegas.

During the match against Dortmund, United took an early lead through Diogo Dalot, but Donyell Malen quickly scored a two-minute brace to secure the win for the Bundesliga side. Anthony managed to equalise but Youssoufa Moukoko cancelled out that effort soon after.

Following the defeat, Eriksen spoke to MUTV and expressed his frustration with the extensive travelling involved in the tour. He said: "I think it's been good, there's been a lot of games and too much traveling, to be honest.

"It's been nice to see all the fans and to give back to them. I think we played a strong game apart from the result. We lost, so it's a big disappointment, but I think we tried to do what we could and I think we played a strong 43 mins in the first half, then the second half as well, but yeah, when we make mistakes like that we get punished.

"It's feeling easier going into the games [with better fitness levels], we're feeling more prepared. It feels good to be playing normal. We expected a tough pre-season, but for me, there's probably been too much travelling around.

The Danish midfielder added: "Playing in different places but it has to happen. We've adapted and everyone is happy to go home, I think, but we enjoyed our time here.

"I think it's been good for me personally, it's about getting confident and minutes. I think the support has been incredible, we've tried to give something back by playing our football."

Ten Hag has been keen to rotate his players throughout the time in the US, with new signing Mason Mount among those handed vital pre-season minutes. The 24-year-old England international signed a five-year deal at Old Trafford in a £60m switch from Chelsea.

United play two more friendlies before kicking off the Premier League season at home to Wolves. They take on Lens, a Ligue 1 team, at Old Trafford on August 5th, followed by a match against LaLiga's Athletico Bilbao at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin the following day.
