David Beckham congratulated Lioness Lauren James on her incredible goal against Denmark.....at 5am from Miami. Lauren, who wears the England No 7 just like Becks in his heyday, scored with a stunning strike to clinch a crucial victory.

The England legend, 48, watching the action from his Florida home in the early hours of Saturday, wrote on Instagram “great goal Lauren”. The starstruck young striker admitted that she was unsure if the message was genuine and wondered ‘Am I reading that right’?

She added: “It was ‘wow’ that someone like that who had such a great career has seen it.” That goal means England go into Tuesday's clash with China needing to avoid defeat to go through as group D winners. It could mean a possible last 16 showdown with Australia.

Tomorrow is the first anniversary of the Lionesses historic victory in the Euros final. And Sarina Wiegman’s side are hoping that it is a good omen.
