A family with an autistic son has given a restaurant a five star rating for an "exceptional" waitress who even ensured that a meal was cooked up for him that wasn't on the menu.

The Galleon restaurant is a popular spot in Galway, Ireland, with both locals and visitors enjoying the service, and the attitude of one waitress called Jess left a group of diners saying they "can't wait to come back".

She went out of her way to make sure that the families' needs were catered for, claimed the family who visit Galway every summer and their son's favourite restaurant is The Galleon - so they make an effort to visit it every year.

The son has autism and is non speaking so Jess made every effort to make sure that he was as comfortable as possible.

Firstly, Jess found the family a quiet spot at the restaurant for them to sit and enjoy their meal and that was only the start of an incredible effort by her. The son wanted a dish that wasn't available on the menu but that didn't stop Jess from making sure it was made in the kitchen which left the son "excited and happy."

He needed help with his drink as well and Jess stepped up to the plate again. GalwayBeo reported that the waitress poured his drink into the bottle that he was already using because he cannot drink from a normal glass. The whole experience for the family was very positive one and goes to show how "wonderful and inclusive" the Galleon restaurant is, according to the reviewer who described Jess as "exceptional".

After seeing the review, The Galleon posted on Facebook: "Please take a moment to read This review that arrived yesterday. It certainly made me emotional! Incredibly proud of my wonderful daughter Jess, but also of my entire team here. It’s so touching when we get recognition for what we do everyday. We don’t just serve food. And this review sums up what we’re all about here at The Galleon.

"Kindness costs nothing. Thank you for your beautiful words and the time it took to write this review. Please take a moment to read This review that arrived yesterday. It certainly made me emotional!"

It also led to a flood of positive comments on Facebook including one person who wrote: "That's absolutely fabulous Jess and the Galleon.. As a specials need assistant who works with kids who need a little extra help in their lives this is just so heart warming... We always visit when in Galway... This girl is a very valuable member of staff. Well done."
