Jake Paul fails to execute Nate Diaz prank phone call in cringe video
Jake Paul failed to get through with a prank call intended to cause trouble in Nate Diaz's team as he continued his infamous cringe-worthy tradition.
The YouTuber-turned-boxer has come back to content creation in the lead-up to his fight with Diaz, sharing a number of lengthy vlogs as he looks to reclaim his spot as one of the platform's biggest names. And one trick he regularly pulls in the lead-up to fights is calling his opponent's camp and trying to mess with their concentration.
He and pal Jasper will ring up coaches and teammates of his rivals pretending to be ESPN reporters and other such characters in an effort to rope them in. They will feign an interview for a few moments before launching into a scathing and usually foul-mouthed attack.
However, Nate Diaz has become the second fighter in a row to be unaffected by the prank after handlers stopped Paul from getting through to Tommy Fury's dad John before his last outing. The duo first called Diaz's teammate Chris Avila, who fights on the undercard against Jeremy Stephens before trying Diaz's coach Richard Perez.
After failing to get through to the elder Fury ahead of February's fight, Paul sophisticated his operation by using an app to make his number appear as though he was someone else calling. Avila answered their first call, but appeared immediately suspicious of their claim that they were ESPN's Mike Coppinger.

He told them to call back five minutes later, with Paul theorising that he was asking his team had they organised such an interview before refusing to answer any further calls. Paul then called Perez doing his impression of Diaz, which almost has the coach fooled as he joked that he was in jail after a street fight.
And the story isn't particularly far-fetched after the fighter was seen appearing to choke a Logan Paul lookalike unconscious in an incident after Avila's last fight in New Orleans. However, the impression quickly unravelled and they were hung up on for a second time, declaring the mission a failure.
"F*** bro, I don't know what he would say," Paul joked after the calls, before declaring they had "failed" and insisting that his co-host's shirt which read 'I'm Surrounded By Idiots' was "pretty accurate".
