New York Jets star Billy Turner has slammed Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton after a recent interview.
Payton recently gave an interview where he made several claims about the coaching that had transpired in the 2022 NFL regular season before he arrived. Payton left the New Orleans Saints in January to take on the role of head coach of the Broncos.
Prior to Payton’s appointment, Nathaniel Hackett had served as Broncos head coach. He left the franchise in December last year, and would later take on the role as offensive coordinator of the Jets.
Payton referred to the coaching done prior to his arrival as “one of the worst in the NFL”. The 59-year-old went on to explain how he has made significant changes behind the scenes since he took charge of the team.
Turner saw Payton’s remarks about the previous coaching regime in Denver and took issue with the Broncos head coach. The offensive tackle has spent two spells with the Colorado franchise, including last season before he left and signed with the Jets.

The 31-year-old took to Instagram took take issue with the comments made by Payton. Turner worked with Hackett as head coach last season and now as offensive coordinator going into 2023.
Turner wrote: “Seems like someone started training camp and is trying to soften the blow after realising what he's in for this season. F*****g Bum.”
The Jets will take on the Broncos in Week Five of the 2023 NFL regular season. As a result of Payton’s comments the atmosphere for that game at the Empower Field at Mile High may increase.

“The offense. I don’t know Hackett. A lot of people had dirt on their hands. It wasn’t just Russell. He didn’t just flip. He still has it.
“This B.S. that he hit a wall? Shoot, they couldn’t get a play in. They were 29th in the league in pre-snap penalties on both sides of the ball.”
Payton added: “Everything I heard about last season, we’re doing the opposite. Everybody’s got a little stink on their hands. It’s not just Russell. It was a (poor) offensive line. It might have been one of the worst coaching jobs in the history of the NFL. That’s how bad it was.”
