A defiant Lottery winner who scooped £148million on the Euromillions is determined his "mini Glastonbury" will take place next year - despite noise complaints from locals.

Adrian Bayford, 53, had to axe Cambridge Rock Festival (CRF) this year because locals told the council they did not want to be menaced by booming bass and drum sounds until 11pm. This is despite thousands attending the event in both 2017 and 2018 in the 90-acre land attached to Mr Bayford's mansion in Linton, Cambridgeshire.

Since the council's decision, organisers of CRF have worked with the council to get permission to host the gathering next year. The festival offers a "pay what you can afford" full festival ticket which starts at £129. These then increase up to £139, £149 and £159.

A statement posted to the event's website - seen by Mirror today - reads: "Whilst it's too late for this year, we are pleased to announce that the Cambridge Rock Festival has been granted its premises licence, which will allow CRF 2024 to go ahead.

"Together with praise from the licensing sub-committee for putting on an event with such careful consideration for the local area. We will be shortly announcing the first acts who are very kindly rolling over their performances on to 2024. Tickets for CRF 2024 are available on our website. A huge thank you to everyone who is involved. A massive thanks must also go to those who sent in supportive emails for our application.

"They really made all the difference. Other particular thanks to those who have chosen to roll over their tickets, donations, pitch fees, sponsorships, and performances, and our suppliers and subcontractors for their patience. We'll see you in 2024 for our 20th anniversary. Keep rocking until then, The Roberts Family, Head Stewards Emma, Maggie, Thomas & John, and The CRF Team."

Mr Bayford, a former postman, scooped £148 million in the EuroMillions in 2012. He won alongside his now ex-wife, Gillian. Gillian said their eight-year marriage had broken down "irretrievably" and moved to Scotland with their two children months after the win. It was reported, in 2019, Mr Bayford had gone "through a string of break-ups" since the divorce.

Earlier this year, we reported how organisers had to hastily arrange refunds to festival-goers after council chiefs denied the request for an event licence. A festival statement said: "It is with deepest regret that the Cambridge Rock Festival Committee need to let you know that this year's festival cannot go ahead as planned.

"Although this would have been our 3rd time at Horseheath Lodge, the Licence now required (not the same as previously), has in practice taken the decision out of our control for this year. As you can imagine we are devastated to have to break this news to you."

Festival planners said for the last two events at Adrian’s estate they were advised to apply for multiple Temporary Event Notices, which only required a 10 days’ notice period, The Sun reports.
