Sainsbury’s and Aldi have both launched new rounds of price cuts to help shoppers during the cost of living crisis.

The price of 12 toilet roll and kitchen roll products at Sainsbury’s has been reduced by up to 7% from today.

Sainsbury’s says it has now reduced the cost of toilet paper and kitchen towels by 18% in the last two months.

Meanwhile, budget rival Aldi has today cut the price of ten fruit and vegetable products by up to 36%.

The items that have been reduced include avocados, red peppers and easy peelers, as well as baking potatoes and sweetcorn.

But just because prices have been reduced at one supermarket, it doesn’t mean you can’t find the same products - or an own-brand equivalent - cheaper elsewhere.

Always use a comparison website such as Trolley.co.uk to check prices before you shop.

Rhian Bartlett, Food Commercial Director at Sainsbury’s, said: “We promised our customers that as soon as we see inflation falling, we will pass those savings straight on.

“That’s why for the second time in two months, we are reducing the price of our own brand toilet roll with the addition of kitchen towel as the cost of pulp continues to fall.

“As a result, we will be passing on savings of over £4million directly to our customers.“

Julie Ashfield, Managing Director of Buying at Aldi UK, said: “We know that shoppers are having to make hard choices at the moment, which is why we’re passing savings on to our customers anywhere we can.

“We know it can be difficult to access food that is both nutritious and affordable, so we recognise that lowering the costs of healthy food and veg staples like these is so important right now.”
