Mauricio Pochettino suffers Arsenal repeat amid tough Chelsea transfer stance
Chelsea's interest in Brighton star Moises Caicedo could go the same as Arsenal's as they're struggling to agree terms with the Seagulls.
Chelsea have been strongly linked with the midfielder throughout the summer - the 21-year-old potentially set to become the latest big-money arrival at Stamford Bridge under Todd Boehly. The Londoners have already lodged a number of bids for his services but all of them have been rejected by Brighton.
Seagulls boss Roberto De Zerbi appeared to give Chelsea a potential route to signing him, with a possible swap deal involving former loanee and Chelsea academy graduate Levi Colwill.
Speaking earlier this month, the Italian said: “There are two questions. Not only about Caicedo, but also about Colwill, and maybe it can be [a swap]. I would like to play with Caicedo and Colwill together but at the moment I can only speak about Caicedo as Colwill is not one of my players.”
However, a swap deal involving both Caicedo and Colwill appears difficult to do. Chelsea are determined not to lose the 20-year-old and have even rejected a £30m bid from Brighton this summer according to The Guardian.

Despite Mauricio Pochettino being keen to add Caicedo to his squad, he has already laid down his intent to keep Colwill. Speaking earlier this week, he said: "He is going to continue with us.

“I am happy with him, his performance was good today, better than what I expected because it is only the first game with us after the season with Brighton. I am so happy, he can be one of the greatest centre-backs in England."
Meanwhile, the Seagulls are also taking a tough stance on Caicedo’s future. They want to receive at least £100m for his signature having signed him for just £4.5m from Independiente del Valle two-and-a-half years ago.
They are also in a strong position given the midfielder’s current contractual situation. Caicedo had appealed for Brighton to let him leave in January amid a number of bids from Arsenal.
He penned a statement on social media before he was then banned from the club’s training ground whilst his future was resolved. Caicedo then completed a dramatic U-turn and penned a new long-term contract with Brighton.
That deal is set to run for another four years until the summer of 2027. However, he has also confirmed his stance on a move to Chelsea.
“It’s a big team, that’s true," Caicedo told TCTELEVISION when asked about Chelsea. "A very historic team and I can’t say no because it’s a very big, historic, beautiful team. The city as well is beautiful."
