Prince Harry is "unlikely" to divorce Meghan Markle because of the trauma of losing his mother Princess Diana, according to an expert.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been surrounded by nasty split rumours as reports have speculated that their romance is on the rocks. A friend of the couple has hit back at the rumours and said they're "literally made up".

Relationship expert Kate Mansfield agrees and has shared some reasons as to why divorce won't be on the cards for Harry and Meghan.

Speaking exclusively to The Mirror, she said: "It's very unlikely that Harry would ever divorce Meghan. Divorce in Royal circles very much frowned upon, although it happens of course."

Kate suggested Harry has "significant" trauma which could influence his decisions when it comes to relationships.

"For Harry, having lost his mother at a young age there is likely to be a significant abandonment wound that might keep him in even an unhappy marriage.

"The loss of a parent causes most people to develop an attachment anxiety that unless treated can create the tendency to stay in relationships, regardless of how they actually feel."

Meghan and Harry tied the knot back in 2018 and have gone on to welcome two children together - Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

Relationship expert Kate said the couple seem to be a "functional family unit", which she suggested bodes well for their future.

"Given that the couple also have two children, and seem still very much a healthy and functional family unit, I don’t see divorce on the cards," she told us.

It had previously been claimed that Meghan was spending a lot of time partying with her friends in Los Angeles, while Harry preferred to stay at home and do his own thing.

The couple were said to have been "taking time apart", but a source has said this is completely false.

"It's not true, it's literally made up," they told Page Six.
