Although the school summer break has only just started in most parts of the UK, savvy holidaymakers are already looking for deals on half-term getaways in October.
For families on a budget, a staycation in the UK offers plenty of opportunities for family fun at lower prices than during the high season. Holiday park favourites, Haven, are offering cut-price short stays during the half-term with prices starting from as little as £5.79 per person, per night in selected locations.
With many holiday parks welcoming guests well into November, the half-term break never needs to be disappointing, even if the weather is.

It's also the perfect time to explore a new part of the country, with roads and public transport being traditionally quieter than during the summer.

Haven Holidays - one of the UK's most popular holiday park companies, is offering four-night breaks from £139 at several of its beachside caravan parks.
The low-cost deals represent excellent value for money with groups who choose to book a Haven Hideaway holiday in the half-term, getting away for as little as just £5.79 per person, per night when sharing a six-berth caravan.
How to save money on a half-term caravan holiday
Haven offers what they call "Hideaway" holidays where guests can use one of their caravans as a base to explore the great British coastline in all its glory, while also being able to take advantage of the onsite arcades and takeaways. These low-cost breaks help to keep costs down for families wanting to get away for less.
Although access to swimming pools, activity centres and entertainment are not included with their cheapest price package, guests can upgrade to a Haven Saver holiday for a small extra cost to enjoy full use of all the facilities
The best value half-term Haven breaks we found for the half term 2023 include four nights at Quay West in South Wales for £139 caravan-only or £179 for a Haven Saver holiday.
The holiday park is close to the sandy beaches of Cardigan Bay and features both indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a NERF training camp and aerial adventures as well as a Mash and Barrel restaurant complex, fish and chip van and Papa John's pizza.

One guest left a five-star review saying: "Wonderful site very clean and well maintained lovely staff plenty of activities for the kiddies and adults alike. Wonderful lively beach and our caravan having a sea view was perfect as we watched the dolphins playing from our decking. We'll be booking again for next year."
Another guest described the park as being: " A great base for a holiday, beach, woods, countryside all within walking distance. Caravan had a great view of the sea (and the dolphins) and is right by the beach."
Some visitors were very impressed with the location and the accommodation on offer, with one satisfied holidaymaker saying: "Haven Quay West Wales is simply the best! There is a fantastic walk down to the beach from the middle of the park where you can walk across to the harbour at low tide. The Haven complex is well set up, you don’t need to leave the park really as there is a shop, restaurant, chippy, and club. Can’t wait to go back in March 2023."

Other great half-term prices available from Haven include four nights in Berwick, Northumberland for £149 caravan only or £189 for a Haven Saver holiday and Reighton Sands, Yorkshire for £155 caravan only or £195 for a Haven Saver holiday.
Haven caravans offer all the basics guests need to sleep comfortably, including a well-equipped kitchen, heaters in the lounge, shower room and WC and beds and linen all fresh and ready for arrival.

Another British holiday park company, Parkdean, is also offering good value staycation breaks for the October half-term holidays. four nights at the Carmarthen Bay Holiday Park is available now for £159 and the price includes a stay in a four-person chalet with access to the indoor swimming pool and lively entertainment, located close to the beach at Carmarthen Bay.
Alternatively, guests could enjoy a short stay at the Vauxhall Holiday Park in Norfolk for £189. The park is located close to the seaside town of Great Yarmouth and features a Tropical Waterworld pool, an adventure playground, snooker and jungle adventure golf.
Park Holidays is kicking off the half-term with four nights in their Newquay Travella Holiday Park for £256 and Hoseasons has some half-term deals starting from £322.
