Lorraine Kelly's mum has been taken into hospital having being admitted previously in February this year.

The Scottish star, 63, is very close to Anne, 81, who was admitted to University Hospital Monklands in Scotland.

Telling her followers how grateful she was for the care her mum had received, Lorraine tweeted: "Having spent a lot of time over the past few days with my mum in @UHMonklands hospital I’ve seen again just how kind, caring, hard working, funny and downright fabulous our NHS workers are.

"Thank you doesn’t begin to cover it."

Lorraine didn't say why her mum was in hospital, but Anne was diagnosed with nephrotic syndrome in February, a condition that stops the kidneys functioning properly, which also saw her hospitalised.

After seeing she was unwell again, the presenter's fans flocked to Twitter with their best wishes.

One said: "Sending you lots of love and hugs xx." Another added: "Sending best wishes." While a third tweeted: "Sending healing thoughts about you and your mum. God bless you all."

Lorraine opened up about her mum's health earlier this year, telling Hello magazine it was " time for us to have a conversation about the future" after Anne's hospitilisation in 2022.

She said: "She had been experiencing symptoms such as swollen legs for a while and then suddenly took a turn for the worse It was a worrying time for the whole family, and she was diagnosed with nephrotic syndrome, a condition that stops the kidneys functioning properly.

"The doctors and nurses could not have been kinder, but Mum just wanted to get home. And once she did, she improved."

Lorraine moved to London to live close to work, while her mum still lives in East Kilbride, where the presenter grew up.

The mum-of-one is currently taking a break from her titular show, which is being fronted by Christine Lampard. The programme has been cancelled this week for the FIFA Women's World Cup 2023.

Earlier this year, Lorraine revealed she was taking on a huge new career venture away from her popular ITV morning show.

The host has announced she is set to release her debut novel, which will be published next year.

The seasoned star is a favourite on the morning telly circuit but has decided to try her hand at fiction writing, explaining it feels like the “right time” to do so.

“I’ve had such a brilliant time doing this. It’s something that I’ve always wanted to do. I always wanted to write fiction.
