Bayern Munich are hoping to sign Manchester City defender Kyle Walker this summer, but the potential transfer appears to be already causing problems.

Walker has been heavily linked with a move to the Bundesliga this summer, with Bayern willing to offer him a two-year deal. The 33-year-old only has one year left on his current contract with City, but has also been offered a two-year extension.

However, Walker does want to play abroad before he retires and, having lost his spot as a first-team regular last season, is keen to ensure he is getting enough minutes ahead of Euro 2024 given the array of options England boss Gareth Southgate has at right-back.

While a switch to Bayern does appeal to Walker, German outlet Bild claim the club's pursuit of him has left the likes of Thomas Muller and Manuel Neuer 'dissatisfied'. The report states that Bayern's decision to offer Walker a two-year deal, plus the option of a further year, has caused 'grumbling among the older players'.

That is because Bayern have long had a policy of only offering one-year contracts to players over the age of 30. And that policy proved to be a major sticking point in recent contract negotiations with both Muller and Neuer.

The two Bayern legends were said to want a longer contract extension, but both ended up only renewing their deals until 2024. And as a result, it is stated that 'not everyone in the Bayern dressing room understands' why Walker has been offered a two-year deal with an option.

The German giants are also hoping to sign Walker's England teammate Harry Kane from Tottenham. The Spurs striker also has just one year left on his current contract and Tottenham chief Daniel Levy has already rejected two bids from Bayern.

The latest offer is understood to have been worth around £68million plus add-ons and Bayern are preparing a third bid, with Levy unwilling to sell Kane for less than £100m. Tottenham are also willing to discuss a new long-term contract with Kane and new Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou says he is hopeful the situation will be resolved soon.

"For everyone concerned, we don't want to be doing it for too long," Postecoglou said when asked about Kane's future. "I don't think that's good for anyone. I don't think it's good for Harry, I don't think it's good for the club, because as laser-focused as we want to be, you end up sort of repeating yourself along the way.

"But the flip side of that is I don't want to put a deadline on it because that adds even more pressure. You want these things to happen for the right reasons. So from that part, I am not relaxed but I am not putting pressure on him or anyone else at the football club, saying 'Well we need to do this'. But I don’t think deep down any of us want it to go on for too long."
