Neighbours of the Gilgo Beach serial killer suspect, Rex Heuermann, have spoken out describing him as intimidating and disturbing and recalling terrifying encounters with him.

One neighbour recalls a confrontation with Heuermann, who was talking about "the girls" while drunk and threatening violence.

Jimmy Mack, who lives a couple of blocks away from Heuermann's home, revealed that he had intimidating encounters with the suspected murderer.

He mentioned that he once caught Heuermann babbling about "the girls" while drunk and alone at the end of his driveway. When Mr Mack confronted him, Heuermann became aggressive, threatening to slash his tires.

Heuermann, an architect, was charged last week with murdering three women and is a suspect in a fourth death. He has pleaded not guilty and remains in custody under suicide watch.

Another neighbour, who chose to remain anonymous, described Heuermann as intimidating. They said that they had seen him working in his garage, always absorbed in his activities, and barely acknowledging anyone around him.

The neighbours also reported that Heuermann's dog was often left outside, barking incessantly and causing disruptions to the neighbourhood.

Mr Mack recounted the terrifying encounter with the suspected murderer. The incident reportedly occurred when Heuermann was walking home from the LIRR station past Mr Mack's house on March 2.

Mr Mack told the Daily Mail he was sitting on his porch close to 10pm, smoking a cigarette when he overheard Heuermann talking to himself. He mentioned that Heuermann didn't realize he was there and appeared intoxicated.

Heuermann was heard saying, "oh here we are again… I told them ...I told those girls once already ... now you guys are going to understand."

Feeling alarmed by Heuermann's words, Mr Mack asked him, "bro are you talking to my house?" Heuermann responded aggressively, asking if Mr Mack owned the car parked there.

He then mentioned that he had warned someone previously and now they would see, implying some kind of threat.

Heuermann reportedly threatened to return in 15 minutes to slash Mr Mack's tires, which escalated the confrontation.

Mr Mack decided to follow Heuermann down the street on foot, asking him about what he said regarding "the girls" and if he was talking about Mr Mack's wife and daughter.

The situation continued to escalate, and Mr Mack told Heuermann, "We either handle our business now or I never f***ing see you again." Heuermann eventually walked off, and Mr Mack followed him in his car to find out where he lived.

Heuermann jumped over a neighbour's fence and shielded his face, seemingly not wanting Mr Mack to see him.

Mr Mack felt an air of unease about the situation and the confrontation, which led him to believe that something was seriously wrong with Heuermann.

He even expressed concern that Heuermann might come back with a gun, given the threat he had made earlier.

The incident left Mr Mack and his family anxious and on edge, prompting him to warn other neighbours about the encounter and Heuermann's whereabouts.
