New Aaron Rodgers teammate shows off body transformation after position change
One of Aaron Rodgers ’ new teammates has undergone a huge body transformation ahead of the new NFL season.
Mekhi Becton previously weighed over 400lbs but has since slimmed down after putting in some hard work at the gym. Back in May, ESPN reported the 24-year-old weighed 342lbs as he heads into an important contract year with the Jets.
Speaking at the time, Becton spoke about how happy he was to be losing the weight, saying: “I'm losing a lot of weight. As you can see, I look really skinny right now.” New York Jets head coach Robert Selah also noticed his player slimming down, saying: “He looks good. He looks fantastic, really. He's attacking this offseason the right way, and I'm excited for him.”
In May, the Jets declined the fifth-year option on Becton's contract. Had the franchise agreed to give him another year, it would have cost them £10.57million ($13.6m) next season - a significant amount given Becton's injury history.
This offseason Becton expressed his frustration with his current position on the team. He took to Twitter on Saturday and wrote in capital letters: “I.AM.LEFT. TACKLE!!!” Saleh wanted Becton to play at right tackle, but the player has insisted he wants to play on the opposite side.

The player has since deleted the tweet, but Selah addressed the tweet in Thursday’s press conference. “Go earn the left tackle,” the third-year Jets head coach said. “Competition.” With Selah stating he wants Becton to earn his playing in his preferred position, this training camp is an important one for him to ensure he doesn’t stay at right tackle, the position in which he sustained an injury.
Selah also mentioned there will be stiff competition across many of the team’s starting positions, especially with the arrival of Rodgers from the Green Bay Packers. “We're gonna play our best five,” he said. “So, you can assume AVT [Alijah Vera-Tucker] is the best right guard, I'll say that.

And then at center and both tackles, it's gonna be a really cool competition along the entire offensive line.” During the press conference, Saleh took time to comment on his team’s requests regarding the reality TV series Hard Knocks.
The NFL AFC East team were selected to be the focus of the show’s latest series, something that had been criticised by Rodgers. Selah arrived at the press conference wearing a shirt with the words “I love HK”, an acronym referencing Hard Knocks.
They had no choice but to appear on the show after being one of four teams eligible to appear and none of the others volunteered. He revealed the franchise had some conversations with the Hard Knocks team, which he has since been taken on board. “They’ve got a great group of people working with us,” he said. “We expressed some of our concerns, they answered them.”
