Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have a "genuine and authentic spark" and they will present a "united front" amid rumours about their relationship, a royal expert has said.

Nasty rumours have been swirling that their marriage is on the rocks amid mounting money woes following their break from Spotify - but a friend says the gossip is "not true" and "literally made up".

It comes amid a quiet few months for the couple, with some wondering what their next career moves are going to be following reports that they'll focus on separate projects.

And although Meghan has signed solo with a major Hollywood talent agency, royal author and expert Katie Nicholl insists there is "no evidence" of trouble in their relationship, and as far as she's concerned they have always appeared "very close".

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, she explained: "My experience with Harry and Meghan - whenever I've been with them as a couple, who are very, very close - [have] a sort of spark between them that always struck me as being very authentic.

"I think it was very notable that in the run-up to the launch of his [Harry's] autobiography, he had all the publicity and Meghan was noticeable by her absence.

"And that was really the first time we've seen a divide between them because up until then they've very much been a partnership, and at this crucial moment where Harry's doing the boldest and possibly bravest thing of his life, she's not there for him. And that has continued and led to more rumours of a split, of a split being on the horizon - and yet, there is no evidence. They're presenting a very united front."

Up until the turn of the year, Harry and Meghan's post-royal projects tended to involve both of them - until the release of Spare.

Harry's memoir was released in January and included claims William physically attacked him, and that King Charles put his own interests above his son's. He also made allegations against his stepmother Queen Camilla and claims she "sacrificed me on her personal PR altar".

Harry promoted the book alone, carrying out several high-profile interviews, where he spoke candidly about his experiences. But soon after, a source claimed that Meghan was understood to have been more wary than him when it came to his memoir project.

They told the Telegraph "media-savvy" Meghan may have voiced gentle concerns about if releasing the memoir was the right move.

However, once Harry decided to press ahead with the project, she is said to have offered him her full support.

The source said: "Is this the way she would have approached things? Possibly not. But she will always back him and would never have got involved in promoting such a personal project. This was about his own life, his journey and his own perspective."
