After endless criticisms over the last Diablo 4 patch from earlier this week, update 1.1.0b has surprise released to somewhat satiate fans.
Are two patches in one week too much for Diablo 4 players to handle? Apparently not. We know this because, slightly ahead of Diablo 4 Season 1’s arrival later today, and mere days after update 1.1.0a sparked outrage after nerfing classes, Activision Blizzard has surprise released update 1.1.0b. Its primary effect is the removal of a level requirement for World Tiers 3 and 4, but there’s one other major tweak of note, too.
As laid out in the blog post on Activision Blizzard's site, the other big change update 1.1.0b introduces can’t actually take effect yet, seeing as it relates to how Diablo 4 Malignant Hearts are handled. Whereas before players would apparently be expected to spend time tweaking how they would impact your build, the patch notes make clear that “Malignant Hearts will now always grant armour that directly maps with their item power”. How transformative this will end up being remains to be seen.

Diablo 4 open beta – 8 tips to make the most of your time this weekend
Most notably, however, what update 1.1.0b doesn't attempt to address in the slightest are any of the character class nerfs introduced in this week's earlier patch. There's a chance that the studio will react to the resulting fan outcry later this week in the scheduled Diablo 4 Campfire live stream on Friday, 21 July, but it's seemingly clear that none of update 1.1.0a's big sweeping changes are on the cards to be rolled back.
