'My neighbours ignore their baby's blood-curdling screams - it's driving me insane'
There is nothing worse than living next to noisy neighbours, whether its loud music keeping you up at night or doors constantly banging, it can make being at home unbearable.
However for one fed up couple living next door, who are constantly being kept awake by their neighbours' tot's 'blood-curdling' constant screaming share that it's driving them insane.
Granted, there isn't much that can usually be done about this, but claiming to be every night, this couple have just about had enough and even trying to confront the unbothered parents who 'just ignore it' they have ran out of ideas.
Sharing a rant on a Reddit post titled 'Neighbours driving me insane' about their situation, the user explained: "[Our] Neighbours and our convenient thin walls put their child to sleep at 11pm every night. Screaming her head off. Like blood-curdling, screaming her head off.
"They just ignore it. Goes on for hours sometimes. I've heard it at 2am. But guaranteed, she has a screaming fit once a night. She must be at least 2.5 years old.
Mum's touching gesture to young son who died leaves Morrisons shopper in tears
"I'm not a monster. Kids are all different and can be a nightmare. But when you're bringing your daughter home and putting her to bed at 11pm, that to me is just being an inconsiderate parent.
"We've knocked on their door. Nothing. They own the corner shop that they're adjacent to. We've been in the shop to ask them to please just be a bit more respectful. Nothing.
"The residents don't work specifically in the shop, we just know they own it. So it's not like it can be blamed on a weird working pattern.
"We've lodged a noise complaint. Council aren't interested, even given the time of night it occurs.
"It's a converted flat, with the bottom half of the house used as storage for the shop. Windows always wide open, even in the middle of winter. Condensation strewn across all the windows.
"The owner has two brand new Mercedes 4x4's parked out front. Whilst I'm not judging, given the look of the cars and the apparent egg-shell he's living in, something feels very, very odd. We're not sure if there's more than a three person family living their too.
"The neighbours have been clubbing together asking questions and half the street is kept awake by the child, as they refuse to close their windows.
"The shop's now started DIY work out the back too, to which they go on drilling and banging until about 9pm, even after us telling them our child goes to bed at 7.30pm and to keep the noise down (which I find is very reasonable, given they should stop well before that).
"To those who say "move", it's tough. There's nothing around here. My partner has a chronic condition and it's very close to our child's school."
However commenters on the post have been quick to advise that the writer should contact social services due to the constant screaming.
'I don't want children staying up late at weekends - I really need adult time'
One concerned user wrote: "Please please do consider calling social services, this child needs help and the parents need help parenting. I know it's a difficult thing to do, but when in doubt, always call."
To which the original poster replied: "It's annoying, yes, but I don't think I could live with myself if SS [social services] found something and removed the child."
Others have suggested alternative options, with one person saying: "White noise machine, far better to listen to the sound of rainfall than screaming. We use one as our house is a mid terrace and it just cuts out a lot of noise."
"Earplugs. The child will grow out of it. The ages of two to five can be absolutely hellish. They might be autistic. They could be teething and be in pain, they could have a medical issue. There are millions of reasons," a fellow parent commented.
