Kate admits to 'terrifying' moment just hours after welcoming Prince George
It's a moment that no parent ever forgets - holding your newborn baby in your arms for the first time.
And no doubt the Prince and Princess of Wales will be reminiscing about their joyous first moments with Prince George this Saturday, when the future king turns 10.
Royal baby fever gripped the world as it awaited George's arrival, and finally, on July 22, 2013, the birth of Kate and William's first-born was announced to much fanfare at around 8pm. And it was just hours later that he made his public debut outside the Lindo Wing in Paddington, Central London.

It was no doubt a daunting moment for the couple, not least for Kate, who had just given birth mere hours beforehand and had to face the world - and in an interview several years later she admitted the photocall was 'slightly terrifying'.

She made the admission as she appeared on the podcast Happy Mum, Happy Baby with former I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here winner, Giovanna Fletcher. The podcaster and author asked Kate: "What was it like knowing that so many people outside after you've given birth and you're in your little cocoon with your new family, what's it like?"

She also explained why she decided to follow in her late mother-in-law Diana's footsteps and pose on the hospital steps with her little bundle of joy.
She said: "Everyone had been so supportive and both William and I were really conscious that this was something that everyone was excited about and you know we're hugely grateful for the support that the public had shown us, and actually for us to be able to share that joy and appreciation with the public, I felt was really important.

Asked how long she had between giving birth and posing on the Lindo Wing steps, Kate said: "Oh my gosh, I can't remember. Everything goes in a bit of a blur.
"I think, yeah I did stay in hospital overnight, I remember it was one of the hottest days and nights with huge thunderstorms so I didn't get a huge amount of sleep, but George did which was really great.
"I was keen to get home because, for me, being in hospital, I had all the memories of being in hospital because of being sick so it wasn't a place I wanted to hang around in. So, I was really desperate to get home and get back to normality."
George's 10th birthday later this week comes after reports his parents are said to have decided that the young prince can skip tradition and not join the armed forces.
While most male heirs are expected to serve their country in some way, the usual stint of duty is reportedly not something George will not contend with unless he expresses a desire to join, it has been claimed.

A friend of William reportedly said he and Kate will not stand in the way of George finding his own destiny and passion in life. The friend told the Mail on Sunday: "In theory, there is nothing to stop George from pursuing a career as an astronaut, for example, if that’s what he wants, and then becoming King later."
