Jennifer Lopez writes song about Ben Affleck to celebrate first year of marriage
What better way to celebrate a year of marriage than compose an ode to your true love – and then release it as a single?
Jennifer Lopez has written an emotional ballad to Ben Affleck called Midnight Trip to Vegas – which is all about their, well, midnight trip to Las Vegas, where they wed last July.
They later threw a huge A-List bash with all their pals and through the medium of her song lyrics, Jen, 53, reveals the pair were “drowning” in plans for their huge ceremony when Ben whispered to her: “We can disappear tonight.”
The couple, who rekindled their relationship in 2021 after splitting 20 years earlier, decided to “do something crazy”.
So they ditched the chaos of wedding planning to drive to Vegas with their kids – they have five between them – in a pink Cadillac and “didn’t tell a soul”.
'I'm spending £20k on a new bathroom - but won't help my brother out with cash'
Jennifer and Ben wed last year (FilmMagic)While that sounds romantic, Jen even includes some dreary details like how the pair stood “waiting in line at the DMV [Department of Motor Vehicles]” while they registered their car. She really has encapsulated the entire experience for us all. “So glad that we could keep it simple,” she then sings.
A month later, she and Ben, 50, threw a less simple second bash, which cost £300k.
Now, JLo – snapped in a stunning red dress as she stepped out in LA this week –describes that as an “event of the ages” it was “crowded with families and agents”, for which the pair were “caught in the matrix”.
It might sound bleak but at least it’s inspired such poetry.
