American YouTuber, influencer and college student Annabelle Ham tragically died over the weekend, with her supposed cause of death revealed by her family.

The 22-year-old social media star, who had 77,000 subscribers on YouTube, is reported to have died on Saturday, with her family quick to pay tribute on social media. She was described as "a light to the world" by her loved ones in the touching tributes.

This comes as her family announced that her death was the result of Annabelle enduring an "epileptic event". Taking to Annabelle's Instagram page to share a photo, her family penned: "This is Annabelle’s family. We’re writing this with heavy, heavy hearts."

They went on: "Annabelle experienced an epileptic event and has gone on to the gates of heaven. She struggled with this for a long time and wanted to raise awareness for it, which we will do in honour of her."

According to the NHS, "Epilepsy is a common condition that affects the brain and causes frequent seizures. Seizures are bursts of electrical activity in the brain that temporarily affect how it works. They can cause a wide range of symptoms."

They also state: "Epilepsy can start at any age, but usually starts either in childhood or in people over 60."

Although Annabelle's cause of death is not official, her family are continuing to cite the cause as epilepsy. One of the YouTuber's sisters, Alexandria Ham, has recently spoken out with her saying that she "struggled with epilepsy for a while", as per The Post.

She also told the outlet: "She was always so happy and looked for ways to make every day, situation, or outing better. There really aren’t adequate words for how good she was."

Alexandria also took to social media to pay tribute, with the heartbroken sister writing: "There will never be words for how heartbroken my family and I are.

"Annabelle was such a light to the world. A spark-plug. If you knew Annabelle, you loved her and loved being around her. She loved others so well too. Please keep my family in your prayers".

As well as more than 77,000 subscribers on YouTube, Annabelle also had a combined 108,000 followers across Instagram and TikTok. The young woman often shared step-by-step makeup tutorials and glimpses of her life at college in Georgia. Annabelle was in the Alpha Omicron Pi sorority.
