When welcoming royal guests, most hosts go out of their way to make their VIP visitor feel comfortable.

But when the Princess of Wales was unusually scolded during one royal engagement several years ago, it saw her momentarily lose her usually solid composure and give a rare yet candid reaction that fans couldn't get enough of.

It came as the mum-of-three visited a centre for children during a trip to New York in December 2014 and was roped into helping wrap some Christmas presents. The princess quickly got stuck into tackling the task of cutting ribbon and folding the paper.

However, at one point, Kate, who was five months pregnant with Princess Charlotte, took a moment's rest to chat with some of the other volunteers who were also helping with the wrapping - but their conversation didn't go down well.

In a clip showing the moment, another volunteer off-camera snaps that they had to "keep wrapping" - stopping the conversation dead in its tracks. It prompted Kate to light-heartedly roll her eyes in a rare candid moment - but seconds later she laughed it off.

Kate soon carried on and is said to have enjoyed the rest of her visit as she chatted happily with those at the centre.

Recently, it has been a busy time for Kate after appearing twice at Wimbledon, where she was definitely treated like a VIP visitor and given a seat in the Royal Box for both singles finals.

On Sunday, she presented world number one Carlos Alcaraz with his first Wimbledon championship trophy, marking the Spaniard's win against Novak Djokovic who was battling for a record-equalling eighth Wimbledon title.

The tennis stars' thrilling five-set match was also watched by the Prince of Wales, Prince George and Princess Charlotte. Both players bowed in front of Kate ahead of receiving their gongs and chatted with the princess briefly before she stepped back and joined the crowd in applauding each of them.

Sunday was also Charlotte's first visit to the tournament and she held Kate's hand and walked ahead of George and William to reach the Players’ Lawn and greeted Wimbledon staff, police dog Stella and British wheelchair doubles champion Gordon Reid.

In the Player's Lawn, Kate told Ella Ottaway, who runs the All England Club’s young people programme that youngest son Prince Louis was 'very upset' that he was not attending.

The princess said: "It's Charlotte's first time, George came last year. They've been eagerly watching. Charlotte, you've been getting to grips with the scoring. Louis was very upset he wasn't coming today.'

Charlotte petted Stella the springer spaniel, who searched Centre Court on Sunday morning on her last day at Wimbledon before retiring. The young princess was also introduced to eight-year-old Mu'awwiz Anwar who is representing the charity WaterAid and who performed the coin toss at the match.

Sunday marked Kate’s third visit to Wimbledon – this time wearing a green dress by Roland Mouret – over the course of this year's tournament. The princess attended on Saturday and consoled a tearful Ons Jabeur after the Tunisian lost the ladies' singles final against Czech player Marketa Vondrousova.
