Diablo 4 is getting its second chonky patch today, which will be deployed ahead of Season of the Malignant which goes live on July 20. Prepare to get kicked out of the game during the maintenance window – but it won't be for long.

Update: Diablo 4 patch notes for update 1.1.0.a are live and adds PS5 DualSense Edge support for PC as well as nerfing a popular Barbarian build.

Original story: As with June's update that was the largest the game received since launch, the Diablo 4 update 1.1 today is also pretty sizeable with early patch notes revealing a 6,600-word-strong list dropping ahead of Season 1 this week. Dubbed Season of the Malignant, the upcoming Diablo 4 Season 1 patch will prep the game for Thursday, July 20, when all of the new content goes live.

As with the June patch, the update today will be accompanied by another Diablo 4 maintenance window. Last month, Activision Blizzard seemed to flip flop between whether Diablo 4 maintenance would take the game offline completely, or just cause minimal disruption for players but just take it as a give than you may get booted. Such are the hazards of an always-online game, and it's incredibly annoying, we know.

Today's Diablo 4 maintenance warns that "during this time, players may experience interruptions of service including disconnects."

The Diablo 4 update 1.1 patch notes are also dropping today, so we can delve into them to see what's been tweaked, what's new, and which of the five classes have been nerfed into the ground this time. Will we get the new Diablo 4 class everyone has been begging for? Probably not, but there's no harm in wishful thinking.

Diablo 4 maintenance schedule

The Diablo 4 maintenance schedule for update 1.1 has been detailed over on the dedicated support site as usual. The good news is that it's not being spread out over two days this time, and the maintenance window isn't as long. So you'll be back in Sanctuary hacking and slashing your way through the game in no time.

Diablo 4 maintenance: July 18

  • Ends: 1pm PDT / 4pm EDT / 9pm BST

Diablo 4 maintenance: patch notes

At the time of writing, the Diablo 4 maintenance hasn't started yet and the update 1.1 patch notes aren't live. Balances and tweaks aside, we do know that the Diablo 4 Season 1 content is being rolled out, all ready for Thursday, July 20.

Malignant monsters (housing Malignant Hearts) will be specific seasonal content. There will be 32 Malignant Hearts split across four categories – Devious, Vicious, Brutal, and Wrathful. In terms of more general updates for all players, there's seven new Legendary Aspects, and six new unique items, as well as balance changes and updates.

Of course the Diablo 4 Battle Pass and its rewards will also go live, so if you're keen for more content post-endgame, you might want to get involved.
