There's nothing like getting test, exam or quiz questions right to boost your confidence - but when you get them wrong it can leave you wondering whether you're as clever as you first thought.

Parents and teasers have been left questioning what the point of exams are after the year 6 SATs test left many children in tears. The National Association of Head Teachers, which represents head at the majority of primary schools, vowed to raise the issue with the exams team at schools regulator Ofqual.

One teacher took to Twitter to get the attention of education secretary Gillian Keegan. In a post, they wrote: "Today's SATs Maths Reasoning paper was the hardest I have ever seen in 20 years of teaching Y6.

"After two lockdowns, why would you inflict this on 10 and 11 yr olds destroying their confidence and sending them to high school feeling like failures? Why?"

Schools minister Nick Gibb said he didn’t want the tests, which are taken by 10 and 11-year-olds in England, to be “too hard” because it’s “not the purpose” of the assessment”.
