Sadio Mane wants to salvage his Bayern Munich career even though the German giants are ready to offload him in the summer transfer window.

Mane, 31, linked up with the Bundesliga champions last year after calling time on his successful stint at Liverpool. However, the Senegalese international failed to emulate his Premier League form overseas during a torrid maiden campaign in Munich.

After undergoing surgery for an injury to his right fibula in November, Mane struggled for form after returning from the treatment table and was then suspended in April for allegedly punching his teammate, Leroy Sane, in the face.

Mane finished the season with just 12 goals to his name - leaving his long-term future at the club in doubt.

According to Sky Germany, Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel has decided he is willing to sell Mane in the coming weeks and the club are even prepared to make a loss on the £35m sum they paid for him last summer, with a £27.5m sum touted. However, the report goes on to outline that although Mane could still leave the club, the former Liverpool man is still determined to knuckle down and turn things around in Germany.

While Mane may be keen to stay on at the Allianz Arena, it remains to be seen if Tuchel is willing to persevere with the versatile forward after he tore into Mane at the weekend.

Speaking to the media, Tuchel appeared to warn Mane that he wouldn't be first-choice going forward. He said: "Basically, Sadio had an unsatisfactory season and fell short of expectations. The competitive situation is extremely high for him with Kingsley Coman and Serge Gnabry, we have a constellation which makes it very difficult for Sadio. The player knows that too, he knows my opinion and the opinion of the club."

The German continued: "Let's see. Crazy things have happened in football. Ultimately, the starting position is not easy. Time will make us a little smarter."

Mane's future could directly hinge on whether or not Bayern can convince Tottenham to part with Harry Kane. The German giants have already had an initial offer for the England captain rebuffed but are continuing to pursue the 30-year-old, who has just one year remaining on his current contract at Spurs.

President Uli Hoeness has already insisted that Kane is ready to leave for Germany and a deal can be struck. He told Kicker: "Personally, I didn't speak to him that often. So far, Harry has made it very clear in all talks that his decision is there. And if it stays, then we'll get him. Then Tottenham will have to give in. He now has another opportunity to come to a top club in Europe."
