Good Morning Britain viewers rage at 'scaremongering' weather warning

Laura Tobin issued a warning over the highest ever recorded temperatures on Tuesday but Good Morning Britain viewers weren't entirely pleased with the metrologist's latest report.

After sharing the "rainy" and "cloudy" weather report for the UK, Laura moved onto to North America where "in the early hours of Monday morning, we had the highest nighttime temperature that Earth has ever recorded, 48.9°C."

She continued: "Over in Europe, the record temperature here for 47.1 in Spain, that is just 0.3 off their all-time record and temperatures are climbing as we head through the day."

Good Morning Britain viewers took to Twitter to slam the report questioning why the reporter focussed on high temperatures outside the UK while others simply argued the hotter weather was typical of the summer season.

One complained: "Every morning the same, someone from GMB jets out to Europe to report that temperatures are above average. Far less mention of the UK or the many other locations where temperatures are below average. Whose idea was the scary coloured weather map?"

Another remarked: "Jesus what do you expect in a desert. It’s hot there all year round and hotter in July and August aka Summer," and a third said: "Stop the hysteria. Why on earth do we need to know about Death Valley - hot at the best of times."

"Hot places get hot shocker," one viewer quipped while another mocked: "Oh the drama."

Someone else shared: "You have to ask yourself why GMB is focussing on the weather of a location just shy of 5000 miles away from England. Oh yes, because it’s been p*****g it down here for nigh on 2 weeks and that doesn’t fit with the scary scary ‘world is on fire’ narrative. We see you. It’s boring."

Elsewhere on Tuesday's show, Richard Madeley was mocked by co-host Susanna Reid when he discussed the possibility of his wife Judy Finnigan having an affair with an AI bot.

"I don't know what I'd think if I came downstairs at two in the morning to see where Judy had got to and she was sitting at the kitchen table, having an intimate relationship with a robotic bloke. I think she'd gone mad," he quipped.

Richard later added: "Is it the same as catching your partner watching pornography?" Shutting down her co-host, Susanna remarked: "It's a little bit early for that!”
