Meghan Markle and her husband Prince Harry look set to make an epic comeback after being awkwardly snubbed in the nominations for the Emmy Awards, according to an expert.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex failed to make the cut when the nominations were announced, but they have "pieces in the pipeline" as they focus on their future careers.

Meghan and Harry had been tipped to earn a nomination for their bombshell Netflix docuseries, titled Harry & Meghan, which featured a number of claims about their time in the Royal Family.

In the explosive series, Harry detailed the breakdown of his relationship with his brother Prince William and also took aim at his father King Charles.

Royal commentator Afua Hagan said the couple are now focusing on future projects with the streaming giant.

During an appearance on TalkTV, she said: "They have pieces in the pipeline. It's not like they're sitting back and nothing is happening, the Invictus documentary is on its way."

Harry and Meghan released their docuseries last December and it went on to break streaming records as it became the biggest Netflix documentary debut.

The Sussexes signed their lucrative deal with Netflix after stepping back from the Royal Family in 2020. It is unknown exactly how much the deal is worth but it has been reported it could be worth $112million (£88,000).

There had been claims that the streaming giant wanted Harry and Meghan to come up with "more great ideas" if they wanted to take home $50million (£40million) in outstanding fees. However, Netflix has denied the rumours.

"The bond with Archewell Productions is one we deeply value. Harry & Meghan launched as Netflix's most spectacular documentary debut to date," a Netflix spokesperson said.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, they added: "Our exciting journey with them isn't ending anytime soon.

"We're currently collaborating on numerous projects, including the much-anticipated documentary series Heart of Invictus."

The Heart of Invictus series is set for an August premiere date.
