BBC Breakfast star slammed for 'odd behaviour' during Rita Ora interview

BBC Breakfast star Charlie Stayt has been slammed by fans for his 'cringeworthy' interview with Rita Ora.

The Hot Right Now star, 32, was on the show promoting her new album, You & I as well as revealing more details about her marriage to director, Taika Waititi.

However, some viewers accused Charlie, 61, of flirting with the singer with several taking to Twitter calling out his 'odd behaviour.'

One said: "Charlie's massively flirting with Rita Ora. Mate, behave yourself. She’s dropped the husband word in twice to fend him off."

Another commented: "Excruciating watching Charlie interview Rita Ora, very odd man."

Rita, sporting a smart black blazer and naturally curly hair, looked delighted to be on the show as she shared: "I'm so happy to be here, I love this part of the show as I feel like this is when you guys can get loose a little bit, it's not really the news, do you know what I mean?"

Charlie teased: "You come in here telling us what we can and cannot do, it's none of your business if we think this is the fun bit or not!"

However, some fans thought his response was rather curt, with one tweeting: ""None of her business', bit rude eh Charlie #bbcbreakfast?"

As she launches her new album, Rita reckons she gets her songwriting confidence from her husband, revealing: “I’ve never met someone so supportive.”

The R.I.P star, who married Taika last year, described her third album as a “full-blown love story”.

And while she threw herself into making the record – released this week – Rita insisted she always makes time for her husband after learning that lesson from her parents.

In an exclusive chat with the Mirror, the singer said of the Thor star: “I’ve never met someone who is so supportive of my work the way he has been. He loves all the songs on the album, including You & I – which is one of the most honest songs I’ve ever written.

“I don’t feel like there’s a lot to hide behind, I recorded it the day after we got married and it’s my perfect wedding song.”

Rita, who released her debut album Ora aged 21 in 2012, then Phoenix in 2018, also admitted she was a workaholic – a trait she inherited from her Albanian parents, Besnik and Vera.

“I think my work ethic comes from my upbringing, it’s something my parents instilled in me,” she said. “They always said that as an immigrant, I would have to work twice as hard to achieve my dreams. But they didn’t just teach me about working hard, they taught me about respect and how important family and loved ones are."
